$9 Million For 22-yo Killed By DUI Driver On Marijuana
$9 million was awarded by a jury to the family of 22-year-old Pedro Pasillas-Delgado, who was killed by a driver under the influence of marijuana (cannabis).
Pedro Pasillas-Delgado’s car was hit by a Ford F550 being driven by, Corey Lee, an employee of Consolidated Materials. Corey Lee cause the car accident when he ran a stop sign driving the Ford F550 through the intersection and colliding with Pedro Pasillas-Delgado’s car.
Corey Lee was arrested and charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence of cannabis in a crash resulting in death.
Consolidated Materials admitted that their driver caused the accident and offered a settlement of $3 million, which was rejected, resulting in the trial with a jury verdict of $9 million.
According to the family’s attorneys, Brian L. Salvi and Eirene N. Salvi of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard in Chicago, $9 million is the highest jury verdict on record in Boone County.
